Smith Dog Training

Training & Behavior

Regardless of the training method you use, the foundation of all training and behavior modification is based on consequences and associations or in scientific terms: operant and classical Conditioning.

Training

Training your dog will significantly improve your life and that of your dog. That is if you use humane training methods. Humane doesn't mean having a firm hand or voice. It all starts with understanding how dogs learn. Reward what you like and ignore what you don't. Ignoring doesn't always mean not doing anything. It can also mean providing a time out or removing yourself from the very situation.

Behavior

Behavior issues can be nightmares. You are dealing with a dog that is upset. Upset about something! Most dog owners don't have the right tools in their toolbox to "fix" that problem.

Behavior modification is the direct changing of unwanted behavior by means of conditioning.

The SCIENCE behind it all

Dog Training and Behavior Modification is not magic. It is science. The foundation of all dog training is the two ways dog learn:

Classical Conditioning

and

Operant Conditioning.
